Jesus is a prophet for Jews, but Jesus is not a prophet for world or Christians. If we go according to the Bible than many have called Jesus a prophet that is because the Bible was written for Jews and they believe in one God. In the New Testament (Acts 3:22-23) “Moses said that to the elders, God will give you a prophet. And he will come from your own people (Israel). And he would be like me. whatever he will tell you, you need to be obeying that prophet. Or if someone did not obey that prophet, that person will die and will be separated from the people of almighty and living God”. And it is also written in the Old Testament (Deuteronomy 18:15-19). But he is greater than a prophet. Moses was a great prophet the law writer God promise him. He will send a prophet like him.
Then how the Bible proves that Jesus is the same prophet mentioned in the O.T?
Here’s the answer, we can see the first miracle of Moses. He changes water into blood in Exodus, and the first miracle of Jesus is water change into wine in (John 2:1-11). And Jesus ride on an ass to prove he is the same prophet which God promise in (Zechariah 9:9) it says “Greatly rejoice, O Zion’s daughter; shout in triumph, O Jerusalem’s daughter: look at that, your King cometh for you: and having salvation, and he is a righteous, humble and he is riding upon a donkey but riding upon a donkey’s colt.” And in New Testament we see Jesus ride on ass written in (John 12:14-15) “When Jesus found the ass’s colt, then he sat on it. As it’s written, Do not be afraid, Sion’s daughter: behold, your king cometh, sitting on a donkey’s colt.
Comparison between Jesus and Prophets
But the Bible also proves that Jesus is The God himself. As the verse (Matthew 16:13-17) the new Testaments says that “Jesus went to the area of Caesarea Philippi. He said to followers, “who do people say I am?” they answered, “some people say he is John the Baptizer. Others say that he is Elijah. And some say he is Jeremiah or one of the prophets. Then Jesus said to his followers, “and who do you say I am? “Then Simon Peter answered to Jesus, You are the Christos we’re waiting for, The son of almighty and living God.’’ Then Jesus said to him, Simon Jonah’s Son you are blessed because no one can teach you that who I am but my Father who is in Heaven”. This does prove that Jesus never said to himself that he was a God. Moreover, many prophets came before him and died, like other humans. But Jesus died and was risen from the dead and rose to heaven which none other prophet did until today. Miracles take place in the name of Jesus because there is power in the name of Jesus, people get healed (Acts 3:16) but never seen miracles happen in the name of prophets. And also the evil spirits leave in the name of Jesus. Because he is God for the whole universe but prophet only for Jewish. We can say that he did the work of prophets on earth, but he is not a prophet. As if we see the life of the prophets they all did sin against the Lord as the Bible does prove this and The Bible also shows the life of each and every prophet, but Jesus is the only one who is without sin. Jesus is from the Holy Spirit (Matthew 1:20-21) does prove this. And He is the son of God and God Himself. He shed his blood for us to be saved. He came to save all humans on earth and give life after death.
If we do see the life of prophets in the Old Testament as well as in the New Testament, they came to prepare the way for Lord that is Jesus. In the Old Testament, many prophets prophesied about Jesus Christ’s birth. And in New Testament, an Angel came to Mary and told her that she is going to give birth to a child and he will be from Holy Spirit, which does prove that Jesus was not born to a man, but he was born because of the Holy Spirit. Jesus came to mankind to find lost people and save them (Luke 19:10). If we see prophets they can’t save the people because they are also human beings as they can only physically heal or save them through God but can’t save their spirits, only Jesus can save the spirits, the Bible does prove that. In the Bible, we see it is written that Jesus is before Abraham (John 8:58) which proves that he is from the beginning and he is the beginning. However, he accepted the role of a servant being appearing in human form. So God raised him up to the most important place and gave him the name that is greater than any other name (Philippians 2:9). Bible does prove in (John 5:22-23) the Father judges no one. He has given the power to Son to do all the judgment. God did this so that all people will respect the son the same as they respected the father. The one who does not respect the son does not respect the father as father and son is one only.
Moreover, Jesus did all those things which prophets did and had all the gifts of the spirit, which none other prophet had. If we see the prophets according to the Holy Scriptures, then no prophet had all the complete Gifts of Spirit, but Jesus alone stands with all gifts of the spirit because he was sinless and he is the God who is omnipotent. This was an effort by us to explain that Jesus is more than a prophet and he is complete God.
